Begin
When the mind will not settle, you do not have to force it.
Just breathe, and listen.
From John, chapter fourteen.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:
not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Breathe in slowly.
Hold it.
Let it go.
Do it twice more.
From Psalm forty-six.
Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Be still is not a command to stop feeling.
It is an invitation to know who is with you.
From Philippians, chapter four.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Tell your Heavenly Father what is unsettling you.
Then ask for His peace, the kind that passes understanding.
Amen.
